Adalius Thomas, Alan Faneca Available for the Cleveland Browns

Posted: 26th April 2010 by Brian DiTullio in NFL
The NFL Draft isn't just good for bringing in young talent from the college ranks. It's also good for picking up players from other teams who suddenly are out of jobs because of that fresh talent. Adalius Thomas was released by the New England Patriots on Monday and Alan Faneca was released by the New York Jets over the weekend. Thomas is one of the bigger releases of the last few days, but it ...

Now that the NFL draft is over, and the off season has begun evolving into the pre-season with OTA’s and training camps just around the corner, lets review the whole off season and see where Detroit stands. We’ll also take a look at some last minute spots that should be addressed before training camp starts this summer. Everyone is handing out “draft grades,” but in this article we’re going to ...
This afternoon Jacques Lemaire, the head coach of the New Jersey Devils, announced his retirement. Various sources claim he will still remain in the organization with another job, but as a coach, this is the end of a glorious career in the National Hockey League. As a player, Lemaire won eight Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens and two more as their general manager. He then won his ...

NFL Beware! The Oakland Raiders Are Scary Again

Posted: 26th April 2010 by Joseph McNeal in NFL
For football fans, the offseason is long and tedious. We are provided with two pacifiers: the NFL Combine and the NFL Draft.   For Oakland Raiders fans these pacifiers are a time that we get ridiculed by the press for our draft picks, for overspending on free agents, and for the franchise's overall decision making—at least during the last few offseasons.   This year is very different.   The feeling is not one of anguish, but ...

National League Playoff Chances with Accuscore

Posted: 26th April 2010 by William Yoder in MLB
Over at Federal Baseball they have a great collection of stories which look into just exactly how good the Nationals are. It's a useful debate, especially considering the fact that many outlets predicted the Nationals to finish, at best, fourth in the National League East. Starting this week, we will be looking at the shape of the National League playoff race every Monday with the help of Accuscore. As you can ...
The title is not a typo. Everyone lauds the Suns' offense while deriding their defense. Given their performances over the last half-decade, that's understandable. But take a look during that same span at the Suns' offense when the game comes down to the wire. You'll find, to your surprise, the Suns struggling as much, sometimes more, to score a basket as stopping one. A closer look at the Suns' personnel (and coaching calls) ...

2010 NBA Playoffs: Has Kobe Bryant Lost His Way?

Posted: 26th April 2010 by Hadarii Jones in NBA
I've always admired the abilities of Los Angeles shooting guard Kobe Bryant in much the same manner I have always marveled at the talents of deceased rap star Tupac Shakur. Tupac was one of those rare people who was able to be different things at the same time. Tupac could be shallow or profound, thoughtful or reckless, and passionate or indifferent, just to name a few. Bryant exudes some of those same qualities ...

Three Weeks In: Grading the New York Yankees’ Offseason Moves

Posted: 26th April 2010 by Jordan Schwartz in MLB
The Yankees are off to a great start at 12-6, but that record is primarily in spite of their offseason moves, not because of them. New York made two big trades this past winter, while swapping out two free agents for two new ones. Let's see how those moves are working out three weeks into the season. Curtis Granderson for Austin Jackson, Ian Kennedy, and Phil Coke The Yankees acquired Granderson in a three-team ...
