Posted: 28th April 2010 by Matt Baker in NHL
After closing out their series with the Sabres on Monday night, the Boston Bruins find themselves in the second round of the playoffs for the second straight season.  This marks the first time since 1992 the Bruins have advanced past the first round in consecutive years.    The team will now await the outcome of Washington and Montreal ’s Game 7 tonight to determine their second-round opponent.  ...
LeBron James is a YouTube sensation. But not for his latest highlight-reel dunk or chase-down block.  This latest "incident" revolves around James and a Chicago Bulls ball boy. Following Game Four of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, the reigning league MVP caused an Internet stir by, of all things, failing to meticulously hand his warmup gear to a ball boy as he checked into the contest (see video below).  In the minds of many, ...
The worm is turning.  New York's most beloved franchise is in first place, one-half game ahead of the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies.    Don't believe what the "experts" told you before the season started.  The Mets are as good as the Phillies, and better than any other team in the National League. With a pitching staff led by Johan Santana, who is certainly the equal of the Phillies' Roy Halladay, the ...

Oakland Raiders: Three Concerns Still Plaguing the Team

Posted: 28th April 2010 by Ramone Brown in NFL
During draft weekend the Raiders were undoubtedly able to improve their team on both sides of the ball. They drafted two offensive tackles, a defensive linemen, a linebacker and were able to add a veteran QB to the roster. All obvious needs. But unfortunately they weren't able to address all of their problems and still have a few glaring weaknesses. Here is a look at some positions the Raiders should still be concerned ...

Meet the Cleveland Browns’ Undrafted Free Agent Signings

Auston English, 6'3" 251 pounds, is a defensive end from the University of Oklahoma who was not invited to the combine but worked out during Oklahoma's pro-day and put up an impressive 40 time of 4.76 seconds and had an excellent vertical leap of 35 inches. English burst onto the scene with 9.5 sacks and 13 tackles-for-loss as a sophomore, but his numbers slipped due to injuries and he ...

Washington Nationals: Roger Bernadina Called Up For Support

Posted: 28th April 2010 by William Yoder in MLB
The Nationals called up Roger Bernadina from Triple-A Syracuse to help a banged-up bench, while optioning lefty Jesse English to make room. Bernadina got the nod after going on a tear; in 61 at bats for Syracuse he's stolen seven bases while batting .377 with a .426 OBP and a .541 SLG percentage. On the other hand, English has been very effective in the bullpen, posting a 3.86 ERA in seven appearances. General ...
The NFL rookie draft generally produces a few solid fantasy performers each year, but it also has a big impact on veteran players. Dynasty league keepers can lose their value in a hurry if the draft is used to bring competition in at their position. This year, there were some major surprises in the draft with some teams ignoring major needs and others loading up on certain positions unexpectedly. The Bills ...

Why the New York Islanders Could Benefit from Long Island Casino Proposal

Posted: 28th April 2010 by Michael Gasparino in NHL
Long Islanders love their casinos. We fly to Vegas (cheap, one-way flights from Islip!), drive to Atlantic City (or take the bus—it's practically free!), or head up to Connecticut for Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods (high-speed passenger ferries from Orient Point!). It's all very convenient and loads of fun. But a casino right in our own backyard? How gauche. Shinnecock Nation, however, has seen how much more money a tribe ...

Atlanta Braves in Midst of Downward Spiral as Losing Streak Reaches Seven

Posted: 28th April 2010 by Daria Del Colliano in MLB
Watching the Atlanta Braves these days is like pulling teeth...no pun intended. As I recover from mouth surgery this week and try to figure out just what has happened to the Braves, I can’t help but remain flabbergasted by their sudden and shocking downward spiral. After experiencing one of the most exhilarating wins in franchise history over the Phillies on April 20, the Braves now find themselves in the midst of a ...
It’s the fourth quarter and the underdog Chicago Bulls were outplaying the King and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers.  However, that all changed when the Cavs dumped the ball down low to Shaq. Brad Miller was whistled for two straight fouls playing stand up defense against Shaq. Miller did manage to take an elbow to the face from Shaq so maybe that’s where the contact came from.  Even the Cleveland ...
