Posted: 28th April 2010 by Andy Bensch in MLB
The San Francisco Giants had a series sweep of the two time defending National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies all wrapped up with a bow on top.
Tim Lincecum had dominated the Phillies all day long and with one out in the ninth inning, he had 11 strikeouts and zero walks.
Without walking a single batter until giving Shane Victorino the free pass in the ninth, Lincecum had thrown just 106 pitches.
And Giants ...

He played in 1,022 games for the Devils. He was an assistant coach for the Devils for six seasons. He coached the Lowell Devils, his first season as a head coach, to a 39-31-10 record.
Now, it's time to finally give John MacLean a shot at the Devils head coaching job.
The other names being floated around, just a few days after Jacques Lemaire retired from coaching, aren't exactly exciting.
Ken Hitchcock? While ...
Stanley Cup Playoffs: Best of the Western Conference, Thus Far
Posted: 28th April 2010 by Mark Ritter in NHL
With round one of the Stanley Cup playoffs in the books for the Western Conference it’s time to pick the best playoff performers thus far.
The likes of Colorado Avalanche’s goaltender Craig Anderson and Los Angeles Kings defensemen certainly were making a case for themselves, that is until both of their teams were ousted from the playoffs.
Suffice to say there are plenty of other candidates out there, here are my ...

The distance between the Pistons’ home and their fan base is greater than any of Detroit’s other three major league teams. Situated in Auburn Hills, the extreme northern end of Detroit’s metropolitan area, the Palace is worth adding the extra mileage. Late owner Bill Davidson built the Pistons’ first modern facility in 1988, after sharing three unsuitable venues the ...
Tuesday reports surfaced from Michael Silver of Yahoo.com of Miami Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland asking Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute in a predraft interview. Dez Bryant's slide down to the Cowboys by now has been well documented and had a lot to do with Bryant's background coming into the draft. Jeff Ireland felt it necessary to ask the young man about his ...

Are the New York Mets Prepping Hisanori Takahashi for a Starters Role?
Posted: 28th April 2010 by Joseph DelGrippo in MLB
In Tuesday night's New York Mets game against the reeling Los Angeles Dodgers, Hisanori Takahashi came in relief of Oliver Perez, tossing 3.1 innings of two-hit, one-run baseball, while striking out five Dodgers.
Takahashi has the looks of a strike-out machine, fanning 21 hitters in 14.1 innings. While allowing only 11 hits, he has also issued 10 free passes, all good for an ERA of 3.77.
Those 14.1 innings have accumulated during ...
Altitude Sickness, Immigration Madness, and a Socrates Sighting
Posted: 28th April 2010 by Jeff Summers in MLB
It used to be that a trip to Denver and Coors Field meant baseballs would leave the stadium like a squadron of F-16 fighter jets. At least that is what we had been ...
