Tampa Bay Lightning’s Steven Stamkos Rubs Shoulders with Greatness
Posted: 25th March 2010 by JC De La Torre in NHL
While his hockey team may have fallen out of the Eastern Conference playoff race, 20-year-old Lightning center Steven Stamkos has pushed to the top of the line to stand with two of the NHL's best players, Sid "the Kid" Crosby and Alexander "the Great" Ovechkin, tied for the league lead in goals scored at 45.
Stamkos added two more to his tally in Tampa Bay's 5-3 victory over the Boston Bruins, ...
Flyers-Wild: Defeat Leaves Philly Playoff Picture Looking Grim
Posted: 25th March 2010 by Mark Ritter in NHL
Marred by a three-game losing streak, the Philadelphia Flyers playoff picture was starting to get a little blurry. The Flyers iced a lineup against the Minnesota Wild that was void of their No. 2 centre and top scorer, Jeff Carter, and arguably their most consistent defenseman, Matt Carle.
Add in the fact that the Flyers were dressing their third-string goalie, and there were not a lot of fans of the ...
The Rangers hired Glen Sather in 2000. They hired him with the hopes of turning this awful franchise into an elite one.
It's going to be 10 years in June. From what we saw, this franchise is no better than it was under his predecessor Neil Smith.
The Rangers missed out the playoffs in Sather's first four years with the club. He built the team by adding free agents past their prime ...
Albert Pujols: For Cardinals, Cost of Signing The Machine Goes Beyond Dollars
Posted: 25th March 2010 by Bob Warja in MLB
It's the classic dilemma in sports: What do you do when all of your options result in a no-win situation? Well, I don't claim to have the answer, but that is what is facing the Cardinals with Albert Pujols.
My point here is that the cost of signing Albert goes beyond the mere contract numbers. Yes, it will be a lot of money, but it's the potential effect on the ...
So Battle of the Blogs Fantasy Baseball League had its draft last night. My team, Double G Sports , had the sixth pick in the first round—and each round after that was done in a snake format.
It was not an easy task drafting a fantasy baseball team in a 20-team league—especially when each team has a 24-man roster. In a league full of ...
There are the always guys on any NFL team that operate under the radar. Every team needs them.
The Arizona Cardinals, despite all the offseason question marks, have many players who could step up for them this upcoming season.
There are a lot to choose from for 'Zona. Even the innocent bystanders have to admit there are a lot of high upside guys on this roster.
So which Cardinals could ...

Dallas Cowboy Draft Talk: The Case for Trading TE Martellus Bennett
Posted: 25th March 2010 by Phil Brennan in NFL
With just six picks in a draft that most experts agree to be abnormally deep, the Dallas Cowboys may be tempted to find a way to acquire more draft choices.
But contrary to the popular notion of the team shipping off one of its trio of running backs (Marion Barber, Felix Jones or Tashard Choice), the Cowboys may just try to rekindle the interest in a player that was inquired about early last season.
Martellus ...
New York Rangers Stay Alive with Win Over New Jersey Devils
Posted: 25th March 2010 by Greg Caggiano in NHL
The New York Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist was absolutely brilliant tonight, and deserved the win against the New Jersey Devils.
It wasn't pretty, but the Rangers would get him that 30th win in a shootout, with some late game heroics by Chris Drury. Lundqvist is now the only goaltender in NHL history to have five straight 30 wins seasons to start a career.
The first period was played predominately ...
I guess the Bruins would rather have takeout on the road than home cooking.
Greasy hamburgers and fries are preferred over Mom’s homemade turkey dinners.
The Black and Gold must sleep better in their plush hotels than in their own beds.
Or they just hate their building.
The FleetCenter.
I mean TD BankNorth Garden.
Oh I stand corrected, TD Garden.
This edifice is no Gahden (that’s Boston for Garden).
The OLD Gahden was the Roman Coliseum for opponents.
And ...
