Over the past decade, the Red Sox have developed a reputation for getting the best value for their players, and sometimes resurrecting careers in the process.
The hot corner has been a prime example of this. While Kevin Youkilis has had his glove in the mix, the Sox have taken chances on aging veterans that most around baseball were ready to mark as over the hill. First came Bill Mueller fresh off his ...
Washington Wizards Thumped by D.C. Judge: Gilbert Arenas Dodges Jail Time
Posted: 26th March 2010 by Tom Smith in NBA
Well, it seems everyone's favorite NBA clown gets a pass. Gilbert Arenas was sentenced today to 30 days in a halfway house, 400 hours of community service, and 18 months probation for his "bad joke" of bringing guns into the Wizards' locker room. What he did not receive was jail time, despite the prosecutors in the case requesting a three-month sentence. This is bad news if you're ...
You probably wouldn't call a player that hit .307, drove in 72 runs, and stole 27 bases a failure, but that's what many fantasy baseball players were caling New York Mets' third baseman David Wright last year.
With the way Wright was viewed before last season—one of the game's true elite third baseman—those numbers just didn't cut it.
He totaled just 10 home runs, down from his previous two seasons in which ...
If you're looking for an eventful NFL draft next month, you might want to look outside of the city of Chicago. The Bears have a draft plan that is about as exciting as a Nationals-Pirates spring training game.
Of course, what they did a few weeks ago on the first day of free agency has lessened the blow, and draft-crazed fans will likely give the team a pass for not having ...
The return of Michael Vick to the NFL wasn't quite filled with the fanfare of hate that many expected.
To Vick's credit, (and perhaps the Eagles staff) he has kept himself under the radar and out of trouble. The question is, after the success (or should we say, non-failure) of Michael Vick could and should the Philadelphia Eagles take a chance on another star with a questionable history?
Adam "Pacman" Jones was ...
Leading up to the 2007 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers were entering an unusual transition. They were coming off a disappointing 8-8 season after winning their fifth Super Bowl the previous season. More importantly, the Bill Cowher era came to an end and the Mike Tomlin era began. There was much speculation as to what direction that Tomlin would take the Steelers.
Pittsburgh released punter Chris Gardocki. Starting center ...
ESPN.com is reporting that LeBron James, who currently leads Kevin Durant by a fraction of a point for the NBA scoring title, declared that he doesn't care if he wins it or not. What he cares about is what the team achieves, James said.
And then, almost as an afterthought, he added, "If I really wanted to, if I really wanted to be the scoring [champion] every single year—every single ...

San Diego Padres: The Five Biggest Issues Facing the Team on Opening Day
Posted: 26th March 2010 by Darren Feeney in MLB
During the Padres 2009 season San Diegans had a difficult time deciphering between games played at the downtown Petco Park and riding the Mission Beach Roller Coaster, the “Giant Dipper”, one of two original oceanfront roller coasters still operating on the west coast.
After the first three series last season, the Pads found themselves tied with the Dodgers for 1st place at 7-3. However, as roller coaster enthusiasts well know, what ...
Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall turned 26 earlier in the week and celebrated his birthday at a night club in Las Vegas. Apparently, Mark Sanchez gave him a call to see how his day was going and to wish him a happy birthday. I guess the Broncos aren't getting too much interest in the talented wide receiver, because they are no longer asking that ...
