Could Cincinnati Reds’ Yonder Alonso Make a Fantasy Baseball Impact in 2010?
Posted: 27th March 2010 by Eric Stashin in MLB
Since being drafted as the seventh overall selection of the 2008 draft out of the University of Miami, there have been rumblings as to how the Reds would fit both Yonder Alonso and Joey Votto into their lineup.
Would Votto move to the outfield? Could Alonso transition to another position?
Before the debate is settled, Alonso needs to prove that he can perform in the professional game.
He failed to do so ...
Tyler Bozak, a 6'1", 195-pound, 24-year-old rookie from Regina, Saskatchewan, has shown glimpses of what he can do in the National Hockey League since his permanent call up from the Toronto Marlies on January 12.
In the American Hockey League, he scored four goals, adding 16 assists and six penalty minutes in 32 games.
The question Brian Burke and Leafs management faces: Is he the real deal?
In my opinion, he is ...
Brian Westbrook Doesn’t Seem Likely To Continue Career
Posted: 27th March 2010 by Bob Cunningham in NFL
It became clear to most Eagles fans that Brian Westbrook was not the same guy he was even only two years ago. He's one of the most popular figures in Philadelphia sports history, so to see the fanbase universally accept that his time was up says a lot. As is usually the case when a high-profile player is released, everyone started connecting the dots. Chester Taylor jumped ...
The NFL Draft is nearly impossible to predict, especially in March. Today is March 27, and if the 2010 NFL Draft were to happen today, than this is how I see the first round going. Obviously teams will trade and I cannot predict which trades will occur, so I'm assuming that there are no trades.
1. St. Louis Rams : Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
No surprise here. I think this is the consensus first pick of ...
2010 NBA Playoffs: Has the Cavaliers’ Focus on the Post Game Doomed Them?
Posted: 27th March 2010 by Bob Evans in NBA
For a team that claims not to run plays for their post positions, the Cavaliers are doing an awful lot of scoring in the post.
Everyone knew the addition of Antawn Jamison would mean the Cavaliers would be doing more scoring in the post. Jamison has been a 20-point, eight-rebound guy for his entire career.
Nobody thought in the midst of getting everyone accustomed to the new play, the Cavaliers have transformed ...

Coach Todd McLellan said all the right things during the recent losing streak.
He said the team had to play 60 minutes, be smart with the puck, get pucks deep, and be willing to pay the price to make the smart and simple plays. When he was not satisfied with the performances, he stepped up the intensity of practices.
He talked about the process, not making too much of the first couple ...
The United States is Simply the Greatest Sports Country in the World
Posted: 27th March 2010 by David Lynn in MLB, NBA, NFL
Now, at my favorite time in the sports calendar, I often reflect upon the amazing nature of sports. It is something that can be totally unifying, and at the same time, completely divisive.
Some people quite literally live and die on the success of their teams.
It is something that transcends all of the normal boundaries that are set for us in life. A young man can grow up on the streets, ...
Boston Red Sox Acquire Frandsen, Sign Schoeneweis: What Are They Thinking?
Posted: 27th March 2010 by Jeffrey Brown in MLB
Earlier today, the Red Sox acquired infielder Kevin Frandsen from the San Francisco Giants for a player to be named later, or cash—they also signed free agent left-handed reliever Scott Schoeneweis.
The question is: why?
Frandsen is 27-years-old. He appeared in 23 big league games last year, hitting a not-so-robust .140, with one RBI .
In announcing the trade, the Boston Globe declared, “He protects the Sox as a backup shortstop.”
Oh, really? Has ...
Darryl Sutter Feeling the Heat: May Cooler Heads Prevail

All this photo needs is a black and white placard in front and the head-hunting that many Flames fans are doing will be over.
Book 'em Dano—guilty of great management.
The man of the hour at last year's trade deadline—the Quiet One, Grumps—who brought Olli Jokinen to Calgary in a move that was then termed "brilliant," is being called to the gallows leading up to the Flames' probable ninth-place finish.
Oh, for shame, you lackluster Flames. But ...
