Describing MLB GMs’ Offseason Attitudes Through Song
Posted: 3rd January 2010 by Lewie Pollis in MLB
Music and baseball go together like Tony La Russa and Dave Duncan.
The nature of the game (frequent breaks in the action) means the fans have to be kept happy somehow; playing background music is a great way to increase fans' patience.
But it goes deeper than that. Preschool students learn to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," and millions of kids nationwide grew up thinking the last words to ...

When it was time to see Alex Cora step into the forefront last season when Jose Reyes went down, it was impressive to see how he took it all in stride. He played solid defense, provided essential leadership, and knew what it was like to lead a team.
But that is not why he was brought in here.
Cora has had plenty of success in his career. He was ...
I have never been a fan of New Year's resolutions. They seem to me to usually be nothing more than unobtainable goals set out to be achieved on an arbitrary date.
Therefore, this year I resolved to accomplish something easily within my grasp. I want to jettison via trade the big name, underperforming flotsam clogging up the flow of my fantasy hockey teams.
I'm hoping to unload and restock at the expense ...
It's been nearly 33 years since the Seattle Mariners played there inaugural season. A lot of good times, and a lot of hard times have come since then. From the great moments like father and son hitting back to back homeruns, to the bad ones, such as Bobby Ayala's entire career.
So this is my debut article here on Bleacher Report, and I figured what better way to start off then ...
Welker Down With Left Knee Injury; Patriots Fans Left Asking Why
Posted: 3rd January 2010 by Todd Civin in NFL
With wideout Wes Welker being carted off the field with what appears to be a serious injury to his left knee, fans of the New England Patriots have already begun asking the question why.
Why did coach Bill Belichick decide to play his starters in a near meaningless game?
Why did we have to lose the heart and soul of our offense?
Why have our playoff hopes been dashed for the second year ...
Division III hockey's leading scorer did not dress for last night's game between Oswego State and Connecticut College, and many are asking, "why not?" The coaching staff did not provide a reason for Eric Selleck's absence from the lineup, and that has allowed room for speculation. One fan wrote on his Twitter account that Selleck appeared to be sporting a black eye. A source close to the team ...
After over 30 years of service, Giants Stadium, the first major sports venue in New Jersey, is saying goodbye.
The stadium opened it's doors in 1976 and it has housed two NFL teams, an MLS squad, countless rock stars, and even a pope. Although, on the eve of its' demise few have taken notice.
Baseball fields are among the most beloved grass in all the world.
Fans talk about as if those stadiums ...
Oakland Raiders 2003-2009: Not Perfect, but “in Progress”
Posted: 3rd January 2010 by Damali Binta Yael in NFL
As a teacher of a reasonably new curricular effort called Development Mathematics, students who failed to demonstrate proficiency were sometimes given a grade "IP" which stands for "In Progress."
Applying this idea to the Oakland Raiders would give us a little more discernment of the performance behavior of our beloved team. The Oakland Raiders get a grade of "IP" for the period spanning 2003 to present.
Here are charts to show the ...

As the Steelers approach the final week of the season many fans find themselves surprised with the situation the team is in. NFL Mikee’s Final Fantasy Adventure and Standings In Seven Leagues

Tom Brady was my man as Team two, the TWO Wreckers won their league.
Brady was a high scorer in many weeks, along with teammates Randy Moss, Adrian Peterson, LaDanian Tomlinson, Hines Ward, Heath Miller, Kevin Smith, the Steeler defense, and Nate Kaeding.
Team one, NFL Mikee's Molemen, lost in the championship week and finished second in that league.
This team consisted of Kurt Warner or Brett Favre, Andre Johnson, Steve Smith of ...
