New York Mets Star-Signing Is Still the Wrong Move

Posted: 5th January 2010 by Sam Fogelgaren in MLB
Congratulations to the Mets. After all those other teams' offseason signings where Omar Minaya appeared to be sleeping (literally), the Mets finally made a move, signing former Pittsburgh Pirate and Boston Red Sock (is that the singular?), Jason Bay.á Bay, 2004 Rookie of the Year in the National League, is a great player. A top-15 outfielder without a question, probably even top 10.á But the Mets signed the wrong guy.á The Mets have ...
This is the second in a three part series looking at the remaining free agent players. Today we will focus on the top remaining outfielders and designated hitters. á Left Fielders Matt Holliday and Johnny Damon are the only type A free agent left fielders. Holliday is reportedly close to signing with the Cardinals. Despite recently turning 36, Damon had a great season in 2009. He matched his all-time high in homers ...
It's an unbelievable thought that it is now January 2010. It seems like yesterday we were watching the Celtics struggle through the 2009 NBA playoffs, depleted of bench options. The 2009 Celtics were forced, through injuries, to display a toughness not seen from a defending NBA champion in some time. A team decimated by injuries to key players were thrust into the shallows of the early rounds of the playoffs. Facing ...

There were also two shutouts and several other lopsided games that caused fans to yearn for the upcoming NFL playoffs to arrive sooner, rather ...
The 2009 regular season has come and gone for the Cleveland Browns, but now that it is the offseason, it is time to begin seeing and writing all the speculation and "what if" articles. Trying to predict what will actually happen for the Browns (or any NFL team) during the offseason if nearly impossible, but what isn't impossible is to predict what areas of need the Browns will be focusing on. The ...

Shortly after Adrian Beltre signed a one-year contract with the Red Sox, it became apparent that Beltre left a nice chunk of change on the table. Beltre only got $9 million guaranteed from the Red Sox, a far cry from the five-year, $65 million deal that agent Scott Boras was looking for. But there is another interesting sub-plot to the Adrian Beltre signing. Back in December, Beltre declined the Mariners' arbitration ...

Game 36: Clippers 105, Blazers 95

Posted: 5th January 2010 by Busta Bucket in NBA
Lack of personnel for the Trail Blazers hadn't been a problem lately, but last night Portland finally tripped up and fell to the Clippers in Los Angeles. Brandon Roy was covered like a glove, but the scrappy Blazers put together a solid effort before eventually falling short 105-95. This was the type of game that presumably would have ended in a loss during the Blazers' recent stretch of wins. Guys played hard, ...
