The Baseball Hall of Fame Voting Process Needs to Be Revamped

Excessive Politics and Subjectivity in Uneven Voting Process
When someone asks me if so-and-so should be in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, I have always stuck to my rule of thumb:
If you can't say yes in three seconds, the guy doesn't belong.
It's that simple, yet every year we argue about who belongs and who doesn't.
This year, Andre Dawson got in and Roberto Alomar did not. How could that be? How ...
Matt Kemp and Rihanna are still in Mexico, and they don't care who knows it. The two were romantically linked earlier this week, and those reports seem to be right on the money judging by these latest pics. The two are pulling no punches, and have no problem playing to the camera. The life of a professional baseball player, and that of a pop princess. Does ...
The 2010 Boston Red Sox: Building a Bridge to Theo-Bithia?
Posted: 7th January 2010 by Joe Albert in MLB
As some of us Sox fans might remember, the Evil Empire outbid the Red Sox all of last winter and, in turn, won itself another World Series. Many people, myself included, figured that the Sox would end up responding this year.
Well, my friends, it appears that is not the case. With issues at the dish last year, names like Jason Bay and Matt Holliday on the market, and plenty of ...
Gilbert Arenas Facing Year-Long Suspension, Sources Say
Posted: 7th January 2010 by Tony Owusu in NBA
Gilbert Arenas may be facing a year-long suspension, according to a league source who spoke to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
Last night Wojnarowski tweeted, "'Stern feels like he's been taunted by (Arenas),'" NBA source says. "'He's done for the year....at the very least.'"
If this is indeed the case then one could logically assume that the Wizards might be looking into voiding Arenas' contract.
It seems like this sudden change in direction from ...

The Hardball Times released their Top 10 prospects list for the Washington Nationals today.á Not much surprise, however, only three of their top ten were arms, the rest position players.
1. Stephen Strasburg: Perhaps the best college pitcher of all time, Strasburg brings unheralded hype and ability to a Washington organization desperate for a shot in the arm. He is the best pitching prospect in baseball and will challenge Atlanta's ...
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys: Wild Card Weekend
Posted: 7th January 2010 by Derek Major in NFL
The Dallas Cowboys host the Eagles once again, this time on Saturday night of Wild Card Weekend.
The Eagles have to return to the place where they were routed just six days before and this time they're mad.
Quarterback Donovan McNabb said last week's game was a "humbling experience." He'll be trying to make this weekend a fantastic experience, but his receivers can't fail him this time around.
Brenk Celek was the only ...
Atlanta Braves Offseason 2010: Grading GM Frank Wren
Posted: 7th January 2010 by Tom Rossiter in MLB
So it seems that the Braves are probably done for the offseason with the Hinske and Glaus signings.
Time for Frank Wren's off-season grades.
Starting Pitcher :
The offseason started out with signing Hudson to a three-year, $28 million extension. Below market value for Hudson, a great leader in the clubhouse and community. The type of player the Braves want to build around.
Unfortunately, once the Braves signed Hudson to an extension, ...

Coming off an impressive 25-goal, 78-point season with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights in 2008-'09, the Toronto Maple Leafs rewarded Nazem Kadri by selecting him in the first round (No. 7 overall) in the 2009 NHL entry draft. This season, with expectations being so high for the young centre, anything short of a breakout year would be deemed a disappointment by ...
The Highs and Lows of Michigan Wolverines Football Recruiting
Posted: 7th January 2010 by Big House Bob in NFL
Don't you just love this time of year? No, not for the national championship game tonight or the NFL playoffs. It's the final month of recruiting for the 2010 class.
All the ranked un-committed high school football players are getting more attention than Paris Hilton at a Star Trek convention. Coaches are calling them and trying to get them to take official visits where they can serve them the local ...
