Every year NHL fans from coast to coast wait impatiently for the trade deadline to near. This year is no exception and, while it is only the halfway mark in the 2009-10 season, I thought it would be fun to take a look at the Eastern Conference teams and which teams fall into the category of buyer or seller?

The Jets hired Eric Mangini in 2006 after Herm Edwards parted ways with the team due to an acrimonious relationship at the end of a frustrating 2005 season.
Everyone loved that hire since Mangini learned a lot from Bill Belichick. and that coach did not disappoint by having a successful first season that resulted to a playoff berth.
Sure the Jets lost to the Patriots in the first round of the ...
With theánext LA Laker game getting closer, we asked Rey of The No-Look Pass to enlighten us on some of the stuff going on in Laker Land.
It's just a simple Q and A with one of our blogger buddies. Check out his site for a good Laker perspective.
Bust a Bucket: How much do you think the Lakers, Kobe in particular, care about losing eight straight at the Rose Garden? That ...
This is now the eighth installment in my series in which I am naming who I feel are the top ten players in the history of each MLB franchise.
With the Brewers struggles throughout the 1990s and most of the 2000s, this list is dominated by players from the 1980s, and there are seven players from the 1982 World Series team on this list.
Now that I have gotten into teams with ...
The Florida Panthers constituted the first victims of the Montreal Canadiens in 2010. A 2-0 victory acquired at the Bell centre. Jaroslav Halak was in net for Montreal and stopped the 38 shots from the Panthers. A second shutout victory this season for him. Benoit Pouliot , with a late first period goal and Brian Gionta in an empty net constituted the only offense of this game. The ...
There is no doubt in the minds of many baseball followers that although some teams lose in style, none can quite do it like the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates have set a sports record for most consecutive losing seasons. Though I am an avid Pirates fan, I must admit I know when to say we stink.
It isn't all the players fault though. The management here was awful for a really ...
Homer Hurting: Detroit Red Wings Lose Tomas Holmstrom for a Month
Posted: 7th January 2010 by Matt Hutter in NHL
In what has become painfully routine this season, the Detroit Red Wings have announced that leading goal scorer Tomas Holmstrom will be out of the lineup for approximately one month.
Holmstrom was practicing deflections on Wednesday at the end of the team's practice when he was struck by puck in the left foot, resulting in a non-displaced fracture.
Holmstrom is no stranger to injuries.á He's been hampered by numerous injuries for ...
Should Tom Cable be retained? Well, the experts say no, but the final decision will be made by Al William Davis (just kidding on the middle name). Al Davis has a history of firing coaches after a year. Shocking, isn't it?
Well, here are the Pros and Cons for keeping Tom Cable:
Pros
1) He is generally a low profile coach, not counting other incidents that will be addressed shortly.
2) He's not afraid ...
Jets-Bengals: Seven Players That Must Excel for New York

For the New York Jets to advance to the divisional round of the AFC playoffs,áseven players must bring their "A" game to Cincinnati come Sunday:
á
1. Nick Mangold
The Jets All-Pro center and anchor of the offensive line needs to ensure pass protection as well as big holes for Thomas Jones and company. If the Bengals rattle Mark Sanchez in passing downs due to a lack of protection and time, the ...
Buffalo Sabres: Is the Best Offense Really a Good Defense?
Posted: 7th January 2010 by Eric LaForge in NHL
If you ask me, I would say the Buffalo Sabres have the biggest opportunity they've had for success in a while. They're winning games by playing well on both sides of the ice, mainly the defensive side.
Their goalie, Ryan Miller, is the best in the NHL right now, leading the league in save percentage and coming in second in GAA (I don't count Rask because he's only played in 18 ...
